Permissions Reference

Overview

Permissions can be assigned at different scope levels, with inheritance flowing from broader to more specific levels:

• School Level: Permissions granted at the School level cascade to associated Departments, Programs and the audits/pathways linked to those programs

• Department Level: Permissions granted at the Department level cascade to associated Programs and the audits/pathways linked to those programs

• Program Level: Permissions granted at the Program level cascade to associated Audits and Pathways

Important: This inheritance only works if your institution's data feed establishes these relationships. Without proper data associations, permissions must be assigned at each desired level.

Student Data & Engagement Permissions

Student Sets Scope Levels

A Student Set can be created and associated permissions assigned at the following levels of scope:

• Campus

• Student Tags

• Student Level

• School: Granting permission to view or engage with individual students at the School level will also grant permission for Departments and Programs associated with the School.

• Department: Granting permission to view or engage with individual students at the Department level will also grant permission for Programs associated with the Department.

• Programs

• All students

• Enrollment Levels

• Concentrations

Note: If your institution's data feed does not provide clear association between students and their programs, departments, and/or schools, you may need to assign permissions at each of the desired levels of scope.

Student Data Permissions

Individual Student Permissions

Student Set Permissions

Student Set permissions are nearly identical to Individual student permissions. In this case, the student permission applies to a student set, or a group of defined students.

Important Note: Most institutions use nightly data feeds to manage advisor-advisee relationships. Manually assigned individual student permissions in Stellic may be overridden during the next data sync. For manually assigned permissions, Student Sets are recommended.

Program Permissions

Permissions for Audits and Pathways can be assigned at a School, Department, or Program level. (In addition, it is possible to assign permission at the level of an individual audit or pathway.)

Note: Admins with audit-publish permission receive notifications when users with Create/Edit (but not Publish) permissions request publication.

Pathway Permissions
