Create and update transfer policies
Transfer policies define the rules Stellic uses when evaluating transfer credit. Configure these once, and they'll apply automatically to all transfer evaluations unless overridden at the institution level.
Access policy settings
Sign in to Stellic.
From the left navigation, click Transfer.
Select the Policies tab.
Click Edit Policies.
Note: Changes to existing policies will affect all unlocked articulations once submitted.

Policy settings
Maximum transfer credits allowed
The upper limit for credits a student can transfer. Students exceeding this limit receive a warning, and staff must manually decide which courses to remove.
Default grade range
The minimum and maximum grades accepted for transfer credit. For example, setting D- to A+ accepts all passing grades, while C to A+ excludes D-range grades.
Default credit range
The minimum and maximum credit values accepted per course. Courses outside this range won't transfer automatically.
Default grade mapping
Rules for converting grades from other institutions to your grading scale. Each row maps a source grade to a target grade at your institution.
Grade Format
How the source grade is expressed (e.g., Alpha numeric for letter grades)
Source Grades
The grade as it appears on the student's transcript
Target Grades
The equivalent grade in your institution's system
To add a mapping:
Click Add more mapping.
Select the grade format.
Enter the source grade.
Select the corresponding target grade.
Repeat for each grade that needs mapping.
To remove a mapping, click the X next to that row.
Credential policies
Set minimum grade requirements based on the type of credential being transferred. This lets you apply different standards- for example, requiring a C or higher for credits from a certificate program while accepting D grades from bachelor's degree coursework.
To add a credential policy:
Click Add more policies.
Select the credential type from the dropdown (e.g., Associate's, Bachelor's).
Select the minimum grade required.
Repeat for each credential type that needs a specific rule.
To remove a policy, click the X next to that row.
Split credit policy
Defines how to handle credit mismatches when source and target courses have different credit values.
When source course has fewer credits than target course
Choose how to award credit when a student's course is worth less than your equivalent. For example, if their 3-credit course maps to your 5-credit course:
Award by source: Student receives 3 credits
When source course has more credits than target course
Choose how to award credit when a student's course is worth more than your equivalent. For example, if their 6-credit course maps to your 4-credit course:
Award by source: Student receives 6 credits
Save changes
Click Submit to apply your policy updates.
Policy changes apply to future evaluations and any unlocked articulations. Existing locked transfer credits are not automatically re-evaluated.
