Test student view

Create a sandbox environment to explore Stellic as a student without affecting real data.

circle-info

Note: If you're both an admin and a student at your institution, you won't see this option. Instead, you can toggle between your admin view and your own student record.

Create a test student view

  1. Click your picture or initials in the top-right corner.

  2. Select Switch to Test Student View.

  3. Click Create a new test account.

  4. Search for and select a student.

  5. Click Create, then OK.

The page refreshes into a cloned sandbox. The student's data is imported, but any changes you make won't affect their actual record.

Return to admin view

Click your initials or picture in the top-right corner and select Switch to Admin Account.

Use an existing test view

After creating a test student view, the next time you switch you'll see two options:

  • Use your existing test student view

  • Create a new test student view

Creating a new view replaces your previous one. You can only have one test student view at a time.

What to know

  • Anonymized data — The clone strips identifying information (name, email, advisors). You'll see your own name in place of the student's.

  • Safe sandbox — When you see the grey student menu (Home, Track Progress, Plan Your Path), you're in the sandbox. Plan courses, message, and interact freely—nothing affects real data or sends real notifications.

  • Approximation, not impersonation — This mirrors the student experience but doesn't bring in all student-specific settings.

  • Private to you — Your test student view isn't visible to other users.

Many teams use test student view for demos and training since the data is anonymized.
