Create exam equivalency rules

Exam equivalency rules define how standardized test scores translate to credit at your institution. When students submit qualifying scores, Stellic automatically awards the corresponding credit.

  1. Sign in to Stellic.

  2. From the left navigation, click Transfer.

  3. Select the Equivalencies tab.

  4. Click Create new.

  5. Select New rules with an exam.

Select the exam type

Choose the credit type from the dropdown:

Exam type
Description

AP

Advanced Placement - College Board exams taken in high school

IB

International Baccalaureate - Diploma program exams

CLEP

College Level Examination Program - Tests for college-level knowledge

AICE

Advanced International Certificate of Education - Cambridge exams

DSST

DANTES Subject Standardized Tests - Credit-by-exam for various subjects

Enter the exam title (e.g., "AP Biology" or "CLEP Spanish Language").

Map to your institution's course

In the Home School section, search for and select the course this exam fulfills.

Tag type (optional)

Description

Student tags

Applied to students who receive this equivalency

Enrollment tags

Applied for enrollment tracking

Course tags

Applied to the transferred course record

Set rule parameters

How recent the exam must be. Set a specific year limit or allow any age.

Add notes (optional)

Visible to all users who can see the equivalency

Private notes

Visible only to users with edit access

Save the rule

Click Save in the top right. The equivalency rule is now active and will be applied when students submit qualifying exam scores.
